Sisters

Wondering what I've been up to lately? Just this:

Poor Thing

Last week my little Tazling caught a bug or ate something dodgy, whatever it was had her puking her little guts out. She woke up Tues morning and told me her tummy had an owie. She was acting rather listless and just lay on the couch. Then she looked at me and told me she needed to puke. Like the loving mother that I am, I told her that if she was going to puke she needed to do it in the toilet. And so off she went to the loo and proceeded to puke her little heart out. Here's the precious part of the story. As my little sweetness is hurling into the porcelain bowl, I hear this little voice go, "I'm okay mommy. I'm going to be just fine." Awwww.

And what does a fabulous mother like me do in a moment like that? Run to get my camera of course.

Taz-ism

We took the kids to the zoo today to celebrate the deliciousness of the weather. At one point we walked passed an artificial rock that had a speaker in it playing a little pop music. Taz stopped, her face lit up and she said, "Mom, hey its a dancing rock. Lets dance!" She proceeded to jiggy to the music for the next five minutes while the crowds streamed by.

It was a most classic Taz moment. Smile!

(P.S. I tried to get a picture, but she ran on as soon as I had managed to get the camera in hand. oh well.)

Bone Grafts, Absyss and Ear Infections

Just a little over a week ago, I had a bone graft in my mouth. I had lost a tooth years ago and had been putting off getting an implant for the longest time. Now that I finally got around to thinking it should be done, I was told that my bone had receded and they needed to build it up before they could do the implant. Yay! So I went in to the oral surgeon who sliced open my gums, drilled a whole bunch of holes in my jaw bone, filled them with bovine bone ( I know, this opens it up to a whole slew of cow jokes), and sewed the gum back up again. I can hear you thinking, "Ouch!" and you would be right. It would have been great if the ouch had ended there, but true to form (nothing ever goes easy for me) the site got infected and now my cheek is swollen and I have puss oozing into my mouth. Yummy! Its also brought a whole new dimension of pain with it. So its back to the surgeon to try and figure out what he wants to do with my swollen, infected, cow jaw.

Then to add to my misery, my dear little Taz got an ear infection. I took her to the doctor who prescribed some drops to help with the pain, but the dear- heart has been fighting me putting it in her ear. Then I noticed the blood coming out of her ear, and didn't freak too much about it (calm mother that I am), until she woke up around midnight last night screaming about the pain in her ear. So, off we go to the ER. I was having visions of her ear drum in tatters with swollen throbbing tissue all around it. Turns out, the blood was from the doc nicking her ear canal with his scope, and the pain was just the infection getting a bit worse (and the fact that the Tazling is a bit of a hypochondriac drama queen). She was an absolute gem at the hospital though, and had all the nurses oohing over how cute she is. She left the hospital with a lollipop, a toy bunny, a bottle of bubbles, a box of juice, her own hospital bracelet and a cup of ice chips. I left the hospital with a bag full of children's lortab (yay for sleep inducing pain killers) and a little girl clutching her new bunny with a smile on her face.

Now its lunch time and I'm still in my pj's.

Take Two

Last year we took Taz to the local farm/petting zoo. We were so excited for her to take her ride on the mini ponies, but she took one look at them and freaked out. This year, we had to explain to her that she needed to wait to take her turn, a concept she was not happy about. But, once on her "liddle horsey" she was all smiles this time (until her ride was over, but thats another story.)

A Little Late

Its a little late, but hey Happy Easter anyway! We had a grand weekend at my brother's house visiting the family. Taz and Maeve played till they dropped. They also had a little bit of a double tantrum over a Minnie Mouse dress and a pair of hot pink shoes. If you're going to tantrum, let it be over shoes I always say.

(We had a few steering issues, but other than that, the tractor was a complete hit - she's a speed demon.)

(Little Miss H just chilled the weekend away.)

(Easter egg hunt # 1 at Grandma Marsha's house - Darren's mom-in-law. It was a hit!)

(The tantrums only stopped after I headed out and bought Taz her own pair of pink shoes. Oi!)
